Weekends go by so fast!
I have a bad habit of wishing weeks away so that the weekend can come. Without even realizing it, I am wishing away 5 days of my life just so I can enjoy 2 days without work. That's a really bad idea. Then when we hit 50,60, 70 - we wonder how we got there so fast?
Life flies by fast enough without trying to wish away those 5 Mon-Fri days.
I have to admit that partly I wish for the weekend because it's like sprinting to that finish line. As soon as your feet cross over the line, you can finally have a cool sip of water to drink, you can sit down and breathe in and out after a 10K marathon.
For me, life feels like that.
I look back at my early 20's and I laugh because I thought I was so busy back then...
Sure, I was busy working full time. But I was also busy playing PS3 Call of Duty, going tubing down the river, having "Book Club Meetings" etc.
I look at my life today (at 27) and I think I AM BUSY and I am lucky if I get to have a bath. I am lucky if I can check my Facebook ...and maybe just maybe upload pictures from my camera to the computer. I am lucky if I can watch a movie without any interruptions.
I am lucky if I can go to work with a shirt with no food crumbs on my shoulder.
Sure, I am slightly envious of my "younger days" - living care free.
There are days when I don't want to cook for my family, and do their laundry.
I don't want to change diapers, and I don't even want my husband to hug me. There are days I just want to be alone, and go to sleep, all by myself. No interruptions.
But of course, I get an evening alone, and I can't wait for my son to wake up so I can come lift him out of his crib so I can snuggle him. And I can't wait for my husband to come out of his "man cave" to give me a kiss and tell each other we love each other...
I love my life today. I love who surrounds me. I love who I have become. While life is crazy, and busy, and I feel sometimes it's not even my own anymore.....my life is exactly where and what it should be....
Sometimes mama just needs to breath....
and blog a little so her day doesn't seem so overwelming.
:)

I'm doing it, I'm doing it!
More then being an efficient blogger, I would like to become healthy and happy with my body so 2013 marks an emphasis of healthy living and eating.
On the right hand side you will see what we had for breakfast Saturday! Egg, lettuce cheese and salsa bagels.
I know the bagel is not good for you, but don't worry, I only ate one half!
Eat like a king in the morning, and a pauper in the evening...I will try anything!
Our little Eli is growing up so fast. How could you not love this face? Even beyond his ridiculous good looks, he's got a personality that brings so much Joy to me and Bran's lives. He loves to dance and sing....watch out Bieber?
On the flip side, he has also developed a wee bit of a temper. When mama or dada says "no" he starts to head butt or scream to get his way....so thus the terrible two's will start to make their entrance!
However, he is an amazing child. He is for the most part calm and happy....and sleeps like a champ!
Back to food.
Here are the Kale chips I made a few nights ago. A little olive oil, garlic and sea salt. Put in the oven for about 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Flip and keep a close eye on them until they are as crunchy as you want them!
MMmmm!
Kale has become a new food favorite. It is full of good things for your body and it tastes great in pasta sauces, baked vegetables, blended smoothies etc.
With that said, I must go now and clean the house. (Notice I don't have any pictures of our house? Teehee...)

Welcome to 2013
We say goodbye to 2012, and welcome 2013.
For the majority of us, Jan 1st marks a day of resolutions. It signifies a blank slate. The first page of a 365 page book. A new beginning.
Some of us welcome 2013 with arms wide open.
Romantic relationships have been kindled. Babies are being born. New job opportunities and boundless other exciting things are about to unfold
For others, 2013 is met with a solemn outlook.
Loved ones passed away. Sickness overtaking bodies. Perhaps financial or relationship issues. Just getting through 'today' is a struggle.
Which ever side you are standing on, the fabric of our lives can be sewn together in the unity that we don't know what 2013 is going to look like.
But we do know, that we have 'today' and that God has promised to watch us and look over us.
2 Corinthians 5:17`Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Peace, Peace, Peace
So it seems like lately there has been a lot of tragedy both
near and far.
Last Saturday, 4 houses down from us, a 29 year old was
stabbed and killed in their front yard. His attacker who was also injured from
the fight, tried to flee the scene subsequently leaving his blood trail on the sidewalk
in front of our house.
I was getting ready for church and Brandon came home and
told me someone had been murdered close to us. There are so many emotions that
you feel when you hear the word “murder” associated with your neighborhood. It
hits even closer when you realize that it was just a few houses down from you.
Instantly you wonder if it was targeted or spontaneous. And if it was the latter,
then are you and your family safe?
Secondly, I had instant goose bumps because I couldn’t sleep
that night. Living on a busy street, it’s not uncommon to hear ambulance
sirens. But this night was different. I could hear cop cars zooming by. And I
also heard a voice (I believe it was a woman’s voice) screaming “no, no, no, no”
in between sobs. Again, it’s not uncommon to hear people screaming, fighting,
music playing etc. A lot of houses nearby us are rented by young college aged
kids. Some stumble home drunk from Cactus Jacks, some have house parties....and
with that comes noise. Of course now
that I know the circumstances, it gives me chills. It’s like putting the puzzle
together and realizing it was probably a young woman looking at this man and
realizing he might not have a fighting chance to life.
The day after I took Elijah on a walk to get some air and
clear my mind, and just one block away from the murder scene was a family who
had set up a lemonade stand selling to those walking by. What a complete shift.
Death vs. Life.
Of course, on a much bigger scale and geographically far away, the shooting in Colorado was
horrific and heart breaking. People were innocently sitting in the theatre
watching Batman, and in an instant everything was taken away. It’s hard to
believe how heartless/disturbed someone can be to follow through with a mass
murder like that.
Anyways, just had to blog about these things as they have
weighed pretty heavy on my mind recently.
But the darkness only makes my hero (my Lord and Saviour)
shine brighter...paraphrase of Lecrae’s Tweet. =)
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which
indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

How He Loves Us
If you read my last post, then you'll remember that lately I have been struggling with faith....just enough that it's really making me want to the seek the Lord even more! I don't want to settle with religion and tradition, I want an alive and breathing relationship.
Anyways one day I realized, why am I holding back my questions? Why am I not admitting to struggling with faith?
I suppose I haven't because I have't had a chance to realize exactly where things are at. Maybe also because I feel I really shouldn't question God when I am a pastor's wife...
But then I felt like the Lord was saying, "if you're having questions/doubts/fear, why don't you talk to me about them? I would be the one to disprove your doubts, and show you who I am." And so one night I just prayed to God and said I am just not really sure where I am at right now but I really want to know You. I prayed that God would speak to me, that He would show Himself to me. Somehow in the midst of business of raising a family, taking care of a church, being a wife, friend, daughter, mom etc - I got lost....and so did my priorities.
2 Nights ago I couldn't sleep and I feel like God used my sleepless night to speak to me.
I had a rough day with Elijah. He was teething and subsequently had been crying all day and to be perfetly honest, just driving me crazy. But by night time, I was just thinking about how much I love him and how much joy he brings to my life.
And, the more I enjoy time with my son and just thank God for him - I feel like God's fatherly heart is being revealed to me.
For instance, even though I had a rough day, I couldn't stop thinking about how I just want to shower him with gifts on his Birthday...just to show him how much I love him. I was also thinking about how he needs our time, our love and affection, and how we'd pay anything........for his safety, for his health, etc.
And it's like God spoke to me and said that's how He feels about us. We sin, we fall away, we push Him away...and yet his heart is overbrimming with love and affection for us. He wants to spend time with us....and he paid the ULTIMATE price for our lives by sending his one and only son to earth to die to abolish slavery to sin....to rise again.....and bring glory to His name....
He is King.....and He is Father.
He is amazing.
And how He loves us so....

Heart Story
I may have mentioned this before, but when I sign on to blog, I feel the
need to make sure all my entries are consistent in size, format, etc. Due to
this slight OCD nature, I have created approximately 6 different blogs in an
attempt to try to start again and make it look perfect. Even as a child and a
teen, I did this with journals and paper notebooks.
So although I want to abandon this blog to restart and create a new 'persona' and increase the level of my writing....there’s a piece of my heart that belongs to “Life In Technicolour.” A few hours of my life has been sown into this...and so thus I return.
My writing is not perfect. The things I have written about in the past may not be a reflection of who I am today, but it was a snapshot of who I was before. And so, this blog is unperfectly perfect. And I hope that as{{you}} read it, that you would hear my voice and feel my heart.
So, topic change.
I am struggling with faith...
I feel as if that statement should never come out of my mouth. I feel guilty, ashamed, disillusioned, confused....and lost. I scratch my head and wonder how I got to this point. Who can I blame for my problems with faith? Who can I lay the burden on and say that their insufficiencies caused my personal dysfunction? It would be much easier to grab someone and tell them it was their fault......then I could call it a day and move on. But no, it’s me.
Sure, I have gone through experiences in my life that have ripped my heart like a jagged edged knife would. It’s hard to sew those pieces back together when they have been shredded apart. I feel stupid for saying this, but my parent’s divorce threw my world out of order. When you’re 20 years old and your world is rapidly changing, you want the security of family. The family you knew your whole life that would be the soft mattress in which you could fall back on to. My mom is there for me, and my dad is there for me...but my parents as a ‘collective’ are not there for me. I no longer have a model for marriage, for family that sticks together until they are old and grey. Although they both love me, I feel torn and split....like I must make sure that my affections and loyalty must be equal at all times.
I’ve written in the past about my struggles with anxiety and panic attacks. I struggled with this addiction (yes, I called anxiety an addiction) for about a year. It was my form of control over my life and the situations that I faced. Sick and twisted, I know.
While I feel free from that (I haven’t had a panic attack for about 2 years now), I feel as if my heart has been hardened. I haven’t truly mourned, I haven’t been able to pick up the pieces and put them together, I haven’t allowed God to heal my heart because in someway I believe that I have been OK, .....or perhaps as “OK” as I will ever get. And thus the battle between the head and the heart begins. I know with my head that in scripture it says Jesus will make us WHOLE, and HEALED....but my heart says, maybe I am the exception. And I justify my thinking by using Paul’s reference to having a ‘thorn in his side’....perhaps my cracked heart is a thorn.

But then I go to various church
services and see people who are on FIRE for the Lord. Sometimes I think, maybe
they are crazy....what if they have been misled. But no, it has to be real. Why
would you forsake things for something that isn’t real?
And then my cracked heart twinges
a bit and longs so much for that real passion.......to not be ashamed and to
not be fearful. To be all consumed by Jesus.
I love the Lord....I believe Jesus is God....the one and only true way. When
I say I am struggling with faith, it’s more that I feel my heart is numbed and
I need the Lord to heal back the nerve endings....I want to hear His voice,
feel His touch, and see His face.Xoxo

Flooded in Kamloops
*Yay Me* - it's been UNDER 10 days since I last posted...this may be a 2012 Life in Technicolour blog record! I can't confirm that though...but, I am about 95.3% sure. ;)
Tomorrow we head to Victoria for our church district assembly. Bran is required to go and give his pastor's report etc. It's extremely exciting and loads of fun (I am rolling my eyes as I write this.) Anyways, as with all things, we will make the best of this. I am looking forward to the ferry ride, staying in a hotel, going to the museum and whatever else awaits us. This will be Elijah's first ferry ride, and my first trip with Bran to Victoria!
As you can see above, we are currently flooded here in Kamloops! We have been taking little trips down to the river every other day to watch it rising. It's pretty amazing when we live in a world in which we humans think we have everything under control, and yet, here the water is rising! Elsewhere, the earth is shaking, and breaking, and.....all the other environmental catastrophes that can occur!
Well, gotta run.

Return of The Prodigal Blogger...
Well, here I am. I haven't even looked back to see how long it has been since I last blogged. Let's just say that time has been great in demand, and short in supply. Sure, my husband has taken the baby for an hour or 2 some days so I can have "time to myself". But being the person I am, I don't know how to relax. An hour of free time means, clean the house, catch up on your chores, get your hair and makeup done.....
So today I am saying that housework can wait....and my hair which hasn't been washed since Saturday can remain in it's miserable shape for at least a few hours today.
Candles have been lit, blinds remain closed to hide from the outside world........I turned on some worship music but subsequently had to turn it off as I got distracted from what I want to do this morning. I have really wanted to get back into blogging. It has been a great outlet in the past, and I feel an increasing need to continue that as the pressures of life have continued to compound.
I was recently thinking that it would be great to write a blog titled "Confessions of a Pastor's Wife". As memories and experiences swirled in my head, I then thought oh wait, there are so many other confessionals I could write, such as:

- Confessions of a Pastor's Wife
- Confessions of a Pastor's Daughter
- Confessions of a Pastor's Granddaughter
- Confession's of a Worship Leader
- Confession's of a Mother
Ooooh the stories I could tell you.
I really don't know how many times I could say this, but honestly, I don't believe anyone other then other people in the ministry and God truly know what it's like to lead a church, and the impact that it has on your life in a positive and negative way. Ultimately, we are blessed to be in this role and feel the calling to do so....
But let's be honest here, people are a pain in the butt!
Yes, you heard me correctly. =)
I'll dive into some things later on, as I challenge myself to blog on a more regular basis.
Well, time for my next project. Talk to y'all soon!

3 Month Update
WARNING: Baby brain. This post may be written with poor grammar, poor spelling and discombobulated articulation.
Soooo - HELLO! :)
Yes, we are still alive and kickin!
Elijah turned 3 months old last Sunday (Nov 20) and with that came a lovely growth spurt. Sounds like rainbows, unicorns and lollipops but what a growth spurt really entails is: waking up 3 times a night (instead of his 11-7 sleep), weird eating patterns (one day not eating much, the next eating TONS), fussiness with inconsolable crying etc.
A week later, he is back to his angel self. :)
Slept from 11 to 7:45.....is napping right now...is happy and content again.
PHEWF. :)
Make's life so much more easier, ahha.
Well gotta go for now but just wanted to say hellooo! :)

Clean The House
As I was folding laundry and admiring all the hard work I had done cleaning up the house, I felt like my mind was cleared and felt a strange sense of "re-motivation" (is that a word?) to get back into scrap booking, writing, and any other creative activity I had forsaken due to living in a messy house and having no time do anything.
[[Note: No time due to baby which requires all your time and efforts -- lol]]
It was also at that moment that I felt God speak to me.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says ""Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,"
Just as cleaning up your house gives you a sense of clarity and a sense of "ahhhhh" - cleaning up your life gives you an even BIGGER sense of "aaaaahhh."
Humans are busy creatures. Women? Even worse.
We need to look after the house, the kids, the job, the volunteer activities, the yard, the personal appearance...and oops, the husband!
We get so busy that we often neglect ourselves.
There's a lot of ways we can neglect ourselves.

We get so busy that we often neglect ourselves.
There's a lot of ways we can neglect ourselves.
- No time to exercise or cook nutritious meals = Weight gain!!!!! (which equals poor self esteem...etc etc etc)
- No time to get our hair done = look at those 2 inch roots and fried ends! (lol)
- No time to relax = when you can only take a bath for 5 minutes without candles...that is NOT relaxing!!
- No time to do the things you love = you need an outlet to feel purposeful!
The main way we neglect ourselves though is......we neglect our relationship with God. And when that is neglected...well we've thrown away the access to FULL love and peace and joy and all those beautiful fruits.
Sure, you can have a relationship where you meet Him every Sunday morning, but would you be OK only seeing your husband once a week for 3 hours??
So, flex those spiritual muscles!
Eat the bread of life!
Drink of the everlasting waters!
.....take care of your body!
Take care of you!
Your body is a temple!
When you clear your mind of worries and anxieties, and you turn from sin - you will feel a beautiful sense of clarity, and re-invigoration -----it will be amazing how much more you'll enjoy life.
I am challenging myself TODAY to seek after God whole heartedly.
I don't want to be "busy" and "distracted" when there is so much more in life.....

July Update
I can hardly believe it's July 24th already. I blame that on our crazy weather!
Kamloops is known for long, dry, HOT summers.
What have we had?
Clouds.
Rain.
Thunder and Lightening.
A hot day here and there.
Some of us may start getting confused and think that we are living in Vancouver......
I have been off on "sick leave" since July 5th until this baby is born sometime in early August. I had a picture in my minds eye of drives to the Shuswap to float in the warm lake......lying by my dad's pool and soaking up the sun.....and trying to escape the hot sun by hiding in my cold, cold basement.
None of these have really come to pass.
We drove to the Shuswap last week only to turn back as the sun was eclipsed by threatening clouds. My dad's pool? Still relatively green and cloudy - there has been no point in keeping it up when the weather has been crappy! And my cold basement? Well, yes we are using it - but thats because thats where our theatre room is...and when the weather is rainy and crappy what do you do? Watch movies.
So, I have watched movies. And more movies. Aaaand more movies. So many movies that I have sunken to a new level watching films like "Piranha" and ...wait for it...."Mega Shark vs. Crocosauras" LOL. :)
So yes, this baby should be born any day/week now. At latest 4 weeks from now...
We are pretty ready. Got the cradle, the car seat, the stroller, the bags packed, registered at the hospital. Doctors appointments have moved from every 2 weeks to EVERY week now. Yikes. Its hard to believe that we have come to this already! I am really excited for snuggles and baby kisses....from our own son! Wowwww....
I am so in love already and can hardly wait to meet him.
My body feels beat up pretty good, but its worth it.
Well gotta go for now.

Your Love Broke Through
I just watched a documentary called "Your Love Broke Through" about Keith Green thanks to some dude who posted it on Youtube! :)
Ive been on this great quest to learn from some worship music pioneers...and who better then to learn about Keith Green, this radical, passionate worshipper.
If you watch this documentary, or you read about him on Wikipedia, you might be surprised to know he has a Jewish heritage! Its cool that God puts this insatiable appetite in your soul for somethign more when that something is missing.
Keith know there was something more out there, and when he found Jesus, he knew that that was the prize of his life. That he had finally found what he was looking for.
He laid everything aside for Jesus. It was all about Jesus.
Thats where the heart of worship lies....is in Jesus.
We need to simplify the message, not water it down. Its not about the clothes on your back, its your relationship with Jesus. No way around it.
So, I am nearly 20 weeks preggo now! Where did the time go!!
I am absolutely loving being pregnant now that the nausea has seemed to subside. I love everything little movement the baby makes, its just amazing.
We went to Vernon to have an ultrasound done on March 16th, Wednesday. What a miracle to see each arm, leg, the heart beating etc......that each part was perfectly formed.......such a MIRACLE. We had planned to go to Vernon so we could find out the baby's gender........and I totallly forgot that was the reason as soon as I saw my little baby moving around. I fell in love and whatever it was, I was going to be happy with.
So, ITS A BOY! :) \
The joy that just fills my heart....the love I already feel.....its overwelming.
I didnt think this would happen so fast!! :) hehe.
Well going out for a late icecream with my wonderful husband.

Come Spring - COOOMEE
I am so done with this cold weather. Done. Done. DONE. DoNe. DOOOOOOOOONNNEEEEE!! I want spring to come right now. I am sick of wearing a million layers to go brave the outdoors. I am sick of snow blanketing everything. I am sick of wanting to just stay in the house with my pajamas on. I want sunshine! Flowers! Everything that comes with Spring!
Isn't it wonderful to know that we only have to endure winter for a season? It's time to for Spring to take it's place!
This is totally comparative to our lives too. We will have seasons of winter; a cold, dark, unfruitful time in our lives. BUT, welcome "Spring" with all your heart! Time of warmth, of re-growth, vision of new things! :) Everything is but a season; always changing.

Beautiful Day
Hello, Beautiful Day!
Ok, so it’s not that beautiful. In fact, it’s cloudy and downright cold and nasty. I also am working at the place we do not speak of – my nemesis (aka my job at ***** *****) so technically I should be having a pretty crappy day.
**Please note asterisks note confidentiality of workplace, NOT swearwords!
However, I feel like the sun is shining on me, and that is truth because the SON (Jesus) is shining on me. I decided to have fun no matter what today, and to trust in God, that his ways are higher than my ways. The morning flew by and I felt good. I grabbed a chili and tea from Timmy’s and I won a FREE coffee from the ‘Roll up the Rim” contest! But what’s cooler (and cuter) is the person put a little smiley face like this: =) on my lid with the chalk they use to inidicate whether it’s a double double etc. Haha. It was a like a sign. Living under the kiss of heaven as Darlene Zschech says….
I wish the weather would hurry up and get warmer. I miss walking to work. I miss hanging out in the front yard bathing in the sun while attempting to keep my flowers alive. I miss wearing cooler clothes – minus sweaters and boots. Bring out the sandals!
Tomorrow, I am officially 16 weeks along – exciting! Clothes are getting a little tighter, it’s not as easy to suck in your gut. LOL. Morning sickness, still coming and going, but mostly going now that I am in the second trimester. It’s still not totally feeling real yet. Although, I do think I have felt the baby move!! There’s been some weird movement Ive never felt before….it’s really super exciting. Cant wait until March 16th for the ultrasound!
Well, this is it for now!

Refreshing
Dear Jesus.
Refresh my weary, tired, "ready to give up" soul.
Set a flame upon my heart that burns for You.
Give my eyes new and renewed vision.
Strengthen my weak hands.
Bring the fullness of JOY and LIFE - just as you promised.

Dooo It!
Hello Oh Neglected Blog.
I feel like I have not been consistently writing on here.
I know, not like I have to!
No contracts signed, no fan base to wait outside my house, no money made.
But yet I feel a weird slight obligation to write here on a consistent basis. Selfishly, it is fun to look back a day, a month or year ago and see what life was like. The struggles, the prizes, the desires, and the blessings. Fun to see which mountains you scaled, and which insignificant thoughts may have circulated the brain.
So, I have a new role model - for lack of a better, more mature title.
Chris Tomlin.
If you dont know who this guy is, he is a worship leader, most recognized for being associated with the Passion movement with Charlie Hall, Matt Redmond etc.
Heard the song "Forever?" Then you know him!
He is a great singer, great musician.
But what I look up to him for is his ability to pump out new worship music ALL the time. The guy never stops writing lyrics/music - and it's GOOD, anointed, awesome music.
Who has seen South Park with their "Faith Plus One" band taking secular songs and turning them into christian tunes? Pretty darn funny episode. Let's be real here - alot of music sounds like that!
But Chris is pumping out music that sounds fantastic, catchy, and most of all genuine. The lyrics are poetic and beautiful - provoking a sense of awe and intimacy with God.
God has blessed him with that big time!!!
So as a worship leader and "growing" song writer (tons of songs written - only 3 introduced to the church so far - haha!...im getting better at not being so self conscious) I look to Chris as a source of inspiration. Not a source of inspiration for writing material, Jesus should be our source. But I look to him as someone who has been gifted, and I think we could learn alot from him.
What I always come to eventually is: JUST DO IT.
Stop thinking it over.
Dont procrastinate.
If God has given you something, DO IT and USE IT! :)
So, I had no intention of writing this just now but I was playing "Jesus Messiah" by Chris Tomlin on YouTube adn this is what bounced into my brain.
So, my much neglected blog, there is hope - I shall be back soon!
