Flooded in Kamloops

*Yay Me* - it's been UNDER 10 days since I last posted...this may be a 2012 Life in Technicolour blog record! I can't confirm that though...but, I am about 95.3% sure. ;)

Tomorrow we head to Victoria for our church district assembly. Bran is required to go and give his pastor's report etc. It's extremely exciting and loads of fun (I am rolling my eyes as I write this.) Anyways, as with all things, we will make the best of this. I am looking forward to the ferry ride, staying in a hotel, going to the museum and whatever else awaits us. This will be Elijah's first ferry ride, and my first trip with Bran to Victoria!

As you can see above, we are currently flooded here in Kamloops! We have been taking little trips down to the river every other day to watch it rising. It's pretty amazing when we  live in a  world in which we humans think we have everything under control, and yet, here the water is rising! Elsewhere, the earth is shaking, and breaking, and.....all the other environmental catastrophes that can occur!

Well, gotta run.

Return of The Prodigal Blogger...

Well, here I am. I haven't even looked back to see how long it has been since I last blogged. Let's just say that time has been great in demand, and short in supply. Sure, my husband has taken the baby for an hour or 2 some days so I can have "time to myself". But being the person I am, I don't know how to relax. An hour of free time means, clean the house, catch up on your chores, get your hair and makeup done.....

So today I am saying that housework can wait....and my hair which hasn't been washed since Saturday  can remain in it's miserable shape for at least a few hours today.

Candles have been lit, blinds remain closed to hide from the outside world........I turned on some worship music but subsequently had to turn it off as I got distracted from what I want to do this morning. I have really wanted to get back into blogging. It has been a great outlet in the past, and I feel an increasing need to continue that as the pressures of life have continued to compound.

I was recently thinking that it would be great to write a blog titled "Confessions of a  Pastor's Wife".  As memories and experiences swirled in my head, I then thought oh wait, there are so many other confessionals I could write, such as:

  • Confessions of a Pastor's Wife
  • Confessions of a Pastor's Daughter
  • Confessions of a Pastor's Granddaughter
  • Confession's of a Worship Leader
  • Confession's of a Mother
Ooooh the stories I could tell you.

I really don't know how many times I could say this, but honestly, I don't believe anyone other then other people in the ministry and God truly know what it's like to lead a church, and the impact that it has on your life in a positive and negative way. Ultimately, we are blessed to be in this role and feel the calling to do so....

But let's be honest here, people are a pain in the butt!
Yes, you heard me correctly. =)

I'll dive into some things later on, as I challenge myself to blog on a more regular basis.

Well, time for my next project. Talk to y'all soon!

3 Month Update

WARNING: Baby brain. This post may be written with poor grammar, poor spelling and discombobulated articulation.

Soooo - HELLO! :)
Yes, we are still alive and kickin!

Elijah turned 3 months old last Sunday (Nov 20) and with that came a lovely growth spurt. Sounds like rainbows, unicorns and lollipops but what a growth spurt really entails is: waking up 3 times a night (instead of his 11-7 sleep), weird eating patterns (one day not eating much, the next eating TONS), fussiness with inconsolable crying etc.

A week later, he is back to his angel self. :)
Slept from 11 to 7:45.....is napping right now...is happy and content again.

PHEWF. :)
Make's life so much more easier, ahha.

Well gotta go for now but just wanted to say hellooo! :)

Clean The House

As I was folding laundry and admiring all the hard work I had done cleaning up the house, I felt like my mind was cleared and felt a strange sense of "re-motivation" (is that a word?) to get back into scrap booking, writing, and any other creative activity I had forsaken due to living in a messy house and having no time do anything.
[[Note: No time due to baby which requires all your time and efforts -- lol]]

It was also at that moment that I felt God speak to me.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says ""Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body,"

Just as cleaning up your house gives you a sense of clarity and a sense of "ahhhhh" - cleaning up your life gives you an even BIGGER sense of "aaaaahhh."

Humans are busy creatures. Women? Even worse.
We need to look after the house, the kids, the job, the volunteer activities, the yard, the personal appearance...and oops, the husband!
We get so busy that we often neglect ourselves.

There's a lot of ways we can neglect ourselves.

  • No time to exercise or cook nutritious meals = Weight gain!!!!! (which equals poor self esteem...etc etc etc)
  • No time to get our hair done = look at those 2 inch roots and fried ends! (lol)
  • No time to relax = when you can only take a bath for 5 minutes without candles...that is NOT relaxing!!
  • No time to do the things you love = you need an outlet to feel purposeful!
The main way we neglect ourselves though is......we neglect our relationship with God. And when that is neglected...well we've thrown away the access to FULL love and peace and joy and all those beautiful fruits.
Sure, you can have a relationship where you meet Him every Sunday morning, but would you be OK only seeing your husband once a week for 3 hours??

So, flex those spiritual muscles!
Eat the bread of life!
Drink of the everlasting waters!
.....take care of your body!
Take care of you!

Your body is a temple!

When you clear your mind of worries and anxieties, and you turn from sin - you will feel a beautiful sense of clarity, and re-invigoration -----it will be amazing how much more you'll enjoy life.

I am challenging myself TODAY to seek after God whole heartedly.
I don't want to be "busy" and "distracted" when there is so much more in life.....

I'm back BABY! (Or...back WITH a baby!)

Elijah Raine - 9 Weeks
Well, as the title says, I'M BACK! ....and yes, we now have a beautiful little boy. His name is Elijah Raine. He was born August 20th at 5:03 P.M.  - which happens to be our 6th wedding anniversary. We couldn't have received a better gift than our little guy!
He was 8 pounds 11 ounces - and 21 inches long.
As of last week, he is 12 pounds 7 1/2 ounces. - and now 23 inches long!

He has white blonde hair.....and beautiful blue eyes.....just like his dad. :)

I'm sure there's a little bit of me in there somewhere...haha.

So this is my first entry post baby.... ;)

July Update

I can hardly believe it's July 24th already. I blame that on our crazy weather!

Kamloops is known for long, dry, HOT summers.
What have we had?

Clouds.
Rain.
Thunder and Lightening.
A hot day here and there.

Some of us may start getting confused and think that we are living in Vancouver......

I have been off on "sick leave" since July 5th until this baby is born sometime in early August. I had a picture in my minds eye of drives to the Shuswap to float in the warm lake......lying by my dad's pool and soaking up the sun.....and trying to escape the hot sun by hiding in my cold, cold basement.

None of these have really come to pass.

We drove to the Shuswap last week only to turn back as the sun was eclipsed by threatening clouds. My dad's pool? Still relatively green and cloudy - there has been no point in keeping it up when the weather has been crappy! And my cold basement? Well, yes we are using it - but thats because thats where our theatre room is...and when the weather is rainy and crappy what do you do? Watch movies.

So, I have watched movies. And more movies. Aaaand more movies. So many movies that I have sunken to a new level watching films like "Piranha" and ...wait for it...."Mega Shark vs. Crocosauras" LOL.  :)

So yes, this baby should be born any day/week now. At latest 4 weeks from now...

We are pretty ready. Got the cradle, the car seat, the stroller, the bags packed, registered at the hospital. Doctors appointments have moved from every 2 weeks to EVERY week now. Yikes. Its hard to believe that we have come to this already! I am really excited for snuggles and baby kisses....from our own son! Wowwww....
I am so in love already and can hardly wait to meet him.

My body feels beat up pretty good, but its worth it.

Well gotta go for now.
